TheNational Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking a marketing strategist/speechwriter/writer, preferably with digital media and media relations experience, to join our communications team as manager of marketing strategy. The NAM believes that writers, journalists—and speechwriters—are the type of communications experts who will take brand storytelling to the next level. As an integral member of the team, the manager of marketing strategy clearly expresses the NAM’s goals and messaging for NAM members, policymakers, media and the public. The manager of marketing strategy is charged with developing and bringing to life marketing plans that will help the NAM and its members gain visibility and drive advocacy results. In this role, the manager drafts impactful text for our diverse audiences in a variety of styles and tones without sacrificing the NAM’s brand or our cohesive voice in print and digital communications. This position requires sound judgment, creativity, self-motivation and the capacity to juggle multiple internal clients and deadlines. The manager has the flexibility to improve the NAM’s storytelling by helping evaluate and implement processes, research and coordination.

Serve as marketing speechwriter, writer and campaign tactician for the NAM.
Manage development and distribution of content and marketing strategies across all channels of communication.
Help set and articulate the brand DNA—voice, tone, look and feel.
Write copy and oversee the editorial process for member communications, monthly reports and the annual report. Write copy for articles, op-eds, blogs, shareholder reports, video scripts, brochures, invitations, web pages and other printed and electronic communications. Draft or assist in drafting remarks for NAM executives and leadership.
Shape go-to-market and brand strategies for emerging NAM enterprises critical to revenue generation.
Work with colleagues to keep projects moving on schedule, including planning and initial scheduling; coordinating all phases with key providers and project managers; and following through to meet production deadlines and provide high-quality, creative products.
Develop an efficient, results-driven process with the NAM’s creative content team on copy, educational articles and persuasive text.
Display agility in balancing short-notice requests with longer-term projects while under stringent deadlines.
Understand nuance of tone and objectives for all written communications.
Familiar with a variety of traditional and new media platforms.
Back up the NAM’s senior e-mail marketing specialist as needed.

We are looking for Team Players who meet the Following Criteria:
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications or related field.
Two or more years of work experience in speechwriting or related communications field.
Significant experience preparing a variety of written materials of varying topics and styles for diverse audiences.
Experience that demonstrates excellent writing, proofing, editing, research and project-management skills.
Basic knowledge of business and American government.
Ability to work flexibly with a broad cross-section of the organization.
