The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), a leading national research organization based in Washington, DC, seeks a dynamic, tech-savvy, and well-organized conference/marketing associate for its Conferences and Communications programs. ACEEE is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1980 that acts as a catalyst to advance energy efficiency policies, programs, technologies, investments, and behaviors.

ACEEE seeks a conference/marketing associate to promote, market, and manage registration for ACEEE conferences and events. The position supports the conferences team in planning and implementing conferences and events and also works closely with the communications team on marketing conferences via the ACEEE website, email and social media. This position is an exciting opportunity for a candidate interested in organizing high-impact conferences and using marketing to expand their reach.
The conference/marketing associate will have a variety of opportunities to work with an experienced staff of conference planners as well as with a talented communications team. The associate will report to the conferences manager. The position’s core responsibilities include:
Assist with the logistics of ACEEE conferences, workshops, webinars and other events
Manage conference email marketing blasts, create and maintain conference web pages, create and maintain conference mobile apps and work with other staff in developing and implementing other conference marketing strategies
Manage the registration process for all conferences and events; serve as help desk for conference questions
Work with the communications team to market ACEEE conferences through the website, email, and social media
Work on several special projects related to conferences including the Linda Latham Scholarship application process and the Champions of Energy Efficiency nominations and awards
Travel to most ACEEE conferences to manage the registration process
Expectations and Responsibilities:
Excellent writing and communication skills. The associate is expected to write creative marketing pieces promoting conferences and attendance.
Superb organizational and project coordination skills. The position requires experience coordinating complex, long-term projects independently and as part of teams. The associate must also balance multiple projects and deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills. He/she will coordinate and collaborate with numerous ACEEE staff members on the logistics and marketing of conferences. The associate will sometimes be working directly on software applications to develop best practices.
Highly motivated and innovative. The associate must be able to work independently and continually pursue innovative and creative promotional ideas for conferences.
Tech-savvy and quick learner. The position requires the candidate to have knowledge of and experience in all Microsoft Office products and be a quick learner of software needed to complete tasks.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field including marketing, hospitality or communications with at least two years of related experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Basic knowledge of HTML and web design (Drupal preferred)
Outstanding skills in writing marketing emails and using social media
Knowledge and experience in the following software: Salesforce, Pardot and Cvent
Preferred start date: on or about March 1, 2018, based in Washington, DC
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes ACEEE’s generous benefits package which includes health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance coverage; a 403(b) retirement plan; transportation and bike share benefits; three weeks of vacation in the first year and four weeks thereafter.
