PLEASE NOTE: The Events and Marketing Coordinator may be required to assist with a GEAR UP event that takes place on Saturday or overnight.
This position is temporarily funded with anticipated end date in August 2020.
Reporting directly to the GEAR UP Director of Accountability and Assessment, the GEAR UP Events and Marketing Coordinator will be in charge of planning and marketing all program-wide GEAR UP events, including: event logistics, facilitating centralized purchasing, assisting at events, completing event follow-up activities, creation of all collateral, and public relations. He/she will also provide additional support as needed for site-specific events held by GEAR UP site coordinators throughout the year.
The GEAR UP Events and Marketing Coordinator will assist with the creation and implementation of annual GEAR UP public relations plan. For GEAR UP he/she will manage social media accounts on FaceBook and Instagram, update the website, manage the overall brand, and develop additional marketing materials as needed. He/she will work closely with other GEAR UP staff to ensure initiatives are in line with grant requirements and appropriately serve GEAR UP youth.
This position is based at RIT. There is a requirement for some local travel between GEAR UP partner schools. Although this position will not work directly with youth on a daily basis, the ideal candidate will have a passion for working with a diverse youth population and positively impacting the Rochester community. He/she will have demonstrated experience in marketing to include website, social media, and brand management.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent experience, Marketing, Event Management, Graphic Design, New Media, or related
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in event planning, marketing, and graphic design.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; must be adept at communicating with audiences of all backgrounds and education levels
Marketing, graphic design, social media and website management (Wordpress) experience required
Project management experience
Experience with budget management, records management, and planning
Demonstrated success with event planning and execution
Knowledge of and willingness to learn new technologies and programs
Experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) Familiarity with on-campus systems, such as Oracle, Event Management System, Purchasing Design experience and experience with RIT
