The Marketing Department in Northeastern University's Office of External Affairs is looking for a dynamic, creative, highly collaborative Content Marketing Manager to help develop new ways to tell Northeastern's brand story as the Marketing team rolls out new messaging across the enterprise. The role of the Content Marketing Manager will be to identify ways to bring that messaging alive, particularly across the university's digital landscape.
This role requires the ability to work with the senior marketing team to understand marketing goals of various university stakeholderscolleges, research institutes, enrollment, etc.and partnering to create smart, creative, vibrant content that helps meet those goals.
In this role, the Content Marketing Manager will:
Meet with partner marketing colleagues across the university to align around targeted marketing goals and brand message.
Work with an in-house team of writers and graphic designers to develop creative ways to reach a range of priority audiences through a variety of channels (storytelling with an agenda!).
Generate and oversee a prioritized editorial calendar of content.
Assign, review, and edit contentand occasionally write content, too.
Grow a network of external resources, and coordinate their work with in-house staff.
A brand publishers mindset that seeks to understand what audiences consume and how to create it. Superb writing and editing skills. A command of best practices for email strategy and social media channels, including which content and approaches work on each, and why. A strong understanding of content categorization and structure, and content development, distribution, and measurement. Experience developing marketing plans and organization workflows among content teams across a large organization. Experience creating marketing content for the web and growing a social audience, and a willingness to adjust content strategy based on performance metrics. Ability to work with a range of culturally and ethnically diverse populations and a commitment to fostering an engaged and collaborative work environment.
Experience with WordPress, Google analytics, Slideshare, and the top social channels. A basic understanding of SEO. Bachelors degree in journalism, English, communications, or related field of study. Masters degree a plus. Minimum of 10 years of related work experience.
