The Assistant Director – Marketing & Fan Engagement will serve as the primary marketing director for women’s volleyball team and men’s lacrosse teams. Ultimately, this individual holds the responsibility to grow and enhance the awareness and enthusiasm of the Marquette women’s volleyball team and men’s lacrosse program, resulting in increased attendance and fan engagement for home events. This position has the authority to make decisions without seeking approval from the supervisor when those decisions are based around one of the sports of his/her oversight.
Duties and responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to: 1.Responsible for all marketing, fan engagement and promotional aspects surrounding women’s volleyball and men’s lacrosse programs. 2.Grow and enhance awareness for women’s volleyball and men’s lacrosse in the Milwaukee community and surrounding areas. 3.Develop and implement strategies to grow awareness of women’s volleyball and men’s lacrosse within the Marquette community, especially the student body, and to increase attendance by the students at home events. 4.Develop annual marketing plans for women’s volleyball and men’s lacrosse home events. 5.Create and execute scripts and timing sheets for each home women’s volleyball and men’s lacrosse event. This includes the creation and execution of all promotional activities and events that occur at each home event. 6.Increase attendance and fan engagement at home women’s volleyball and men’s lacrosse events. Create initiatives to enhance fan engagement during home events that will result in a positive experience and encourage fans to return to future events. 7.Work in conjunction with Ticket Office to coordinate group sales, special events and promotions around women’s volleyball and men’s lacrosse home events. 8.Oversee student/intern staff (16 individuals). This includes scheduling, training and day to day oversite. 9.Manage marketing budgets assigned to women’s volleyball and men’s lacrosse and make decisions with little to no guidance. 10.Responsible for oversite of marketing email program including creation and distribution of content. 11.Work with women’s volleyball and men’s lacrosse staff to coordinate and promote team alumni function(s). 12.Assist with development, promotion and implementation of events/promotions for women’s volleyball and men’s lacrosse not associated directly with games (i.e. banquets, clinics, etc.) 13.Serve as lead marketing representative for on-court promotions during men’s basketball games. 14.Create graphics needed by marketing for men’s basketball gameday promotions. 15.Assist Director of Marketing with student marketing initiatives. 16.Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Previous work experience in college sports marketing required. Prefer 1-3 years experience.
Ability to flexible work hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to manage (students/interns)
Working knowledge of marketing email system utilized by Athletics.
Strong knowledge of social media means and effective uses.
Strong working knowledge of development of marketing plans and analysis of market data.
