Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Marketing Specialist for the Rutgers Student Centers & Activities. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications and is responsible for the development and implementation of a cohesive marketing and communication plan for the department. The Marketing Specialist assists with all student recruitment initiatives, digital and print media design and development, branding of the department and its programs, and the coordination of a consistent message with the Division of Student Affairs and all other departmental initiatives. This position is also responsible for representing the department at on and off-campus events, focus on social engagement initiatives that help shape the story of the department, and responsible for attending evening marketing programs to capture events through photography, implement marketing contests, and document moments of student and staff achievements.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Maintains and enhances the departmental website and utilize various forms of social media, print, and digital tools and concepts to effectively market our programs.
Responsible for supervising and coordinating the marketing efforts of the student marketing team within the department.
Develops and designs templates for divisional use.
Manages the day-to-day workflow of student design team and regularly analyze project database and assign and prioritize resources, staff and assets to meet the needs of the department.
Ensures stock artwork and logo directories are up-to-date and organized.
Coordinates with photography staff in the acquisition of project-specific photo.
Conducts regular staff meetings to review work and set direction and quality standards for graphic designers.
Ensures a unified, consistent and professional image is conveyed in all areas and all media outlets by enforcing policies, templates and acceptable practice standards.
Ensures University Visual Identity standards and divisional identity standards are met across all facets of design materials.
Actively negotiates costs/services within defined parameters, selects vendors and tracks expenditures.
Monitors budget and financial reports and conducts surveys and provides data, analysis and reports.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of two years related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have excellent writing skills
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite Software; Microsoft office; HTML; E-newsletters, and Social Media.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be willing to travel, when necessary, to sites throughout New Jersey for business demands.
Experience with advertising design.
Experience in marketing, communications and/or website management.
Must have comprehensive high proficiency in current graphic design trends, utilizing video equipment, panoramic systems, SLR photographic cameras, graphic tablets, studio lighting systems, microphones, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Trello, Campus Labs, Baseline, and Basecamp.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Will be required to move and lift marketing equipment such as digital cameras, video cameras, backdrops.
