This is a full time, non-exempt position. This position reports to the Executive Director and is 50% marketing and 50% administrative support. This critical support role is responsible for providing administrative assistance to the Executive Director and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association Board of Directors as well as the Illinois Park and Recreation Foundation Board of Directors through preparing board minutes, coordinating logistics for statewide board meetings, facilitating communication, scheduling meetings, managing logistics, etc. Further, this person is also responsible for marketing projects including graphic design, in collaboration with the Outreach Director, which may include drafting/graphic designing and sending marketing materials with creativity and has the sole responsibility for social media marketing under our IPRA and IPRF brands.
Additional duties include:
Collaborating with staff and volunteers on the foundation’s fundraising efforts,
Supporting the volunteers on the scholarship application/review/approval process.
And serving as a backup for answering and responding to phone calls, answering questions whenever possible and transferring calls as appropriate.
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
Minimum three years of administrative experience and/or two years’ experience in marketing.
Experience working for a non-profit organization or association preferred.
Must have experience taking minutes during a meeting not using a recording.
Willingness to work occasionally outside of business hours.
Ability to travel to local meetings and events to take pictures or assist.
Ability to travel for short business trips (including one week each January and five overnight board meetings per year, one additional national conference per year).
Must write professionally and accurately.
Must be creative for marketing, social media, and graphic design work.
Must maintain professional demeanor.
Must have positive attitude and support our mission.
Must be self-directed and work with limited supervision.
Must be proficient with Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point.
Additional Salary Information: Hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:00-4:30, working on site at the office in La Grange. While a 40-hour work week will be the norm, occasionally overtime will be expected. IPRA offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance (after 30 days on the job) for the employee and their family. Currently, IPRA pays for 95% of the employee’s insurance premiums and 90% of the family premiums. IPRA provides short term disability insurance, long term disability insurance, and life insurance. In the 401K program, IPRA will match one-for-one up to the first 2.5% of the employee’s salary that the employee contributes to his or her account. Additionally, IPRA currently contribute 5% of the employee’s annual salary to the plan. IPRA offers 12 vacation days a year (accruing throughout the year), 2 personal days per year, 12 sick days per year (accruing throughout the year), 11 paid holidays, and 2 floating paid holidays per year.
