The Agnes Irwin School seeks a qualified candidate for Marketing & Communications Storyteller. This position plays a vital role in institutional advancement, by finding and sharing authentic, engaging stories and content that demonstrates what makes The Agnes Irwin School a premier school for girls’ education. The Storyteller is a strong writer and editor who is primarily responsible for creating brand-right content across a diverse set of platforms and audiences, managing a weekly e-newsletter, and assisting the Marketing & Communications team with both internal and external communications.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to: • Identify, research, write, and edit stories for weekly e-newsletter, school magazine, website, social media, and blog that share what’s great about Agnes Irwin • Manage weekly newsletter to current families, developing content strategy, as well as collecting, editing, writing, ensuring the accuracy of, and proofing relevant day-to-day information and announcements • Assist in developing print and digital communications to current and prospective families that include key information and core messaging (emails, announcements, admissions materials, white papers, etc.). • Provide marketing and communications support for key School initiatives as assigned, such as Admissions, Center for the Advancement of Girls, Development, and Athletics • Help maintain brand voice across various platforms and media • Support media relations efforts
Successful candidates will possess: • Undergraduate degree (marketing, communications, journalism, social media or related field) or equivalent work experience required • Minimum one to two (1-2) years of professional experience with a focus on writing, social media and/or marketing practices in agency, corporate or educational environment • Proven storytelling abilities: keen sense of newsworthiness, understanding of newswriting technique and storytelling fundamentals (including hook, authenticity, voice, and calls to action), strong interviewing skills, ability to see “the big picture” while focusing on individual stories • Excellent writing skills that incorporate core messaging in a brand-right, relevant way • Strong attention to detail, fact-checking and proofreading skills are essential • Knowledge of web writing best practices • Familiarity with video editing a plus • Familiarity with AP Style Guide preferred • Ability to work a flexible schedule, as needed to capture evening or weekend events
