The University of Pittsburgh Press is seeking a dynamic, flexible, detail-oriented, deadline-driven team member who can multi-task to assist in multiple areas of the University Press marketing department including:
help maintain and enter data in several different bibliographic databases that are crucial to our marketing and sales efforts
Create and maintain marketing and publishing schedules
Provide required sales information in excel spreadsheets required by our different customers
Support the efforts of the web and social media manager in our social media outreach and maintaining the Press website
Support the catalog coordinator in creating catalogs and sales materials
Gather, create and maintain email lists for marketing purposes
Researching potential review and media contacts
Assist with publicity mailings
Pitch calls and follow-up
Assist with publicity materials (galley copy, pitch letters), as experience and skill allows
Outreach to accounts via email, phone and snail mail to support sales efforts
General outreach and follow-up on solicited orders
General office support (mailings, printing, organization)
With training, learn and become fluid with multiple databases
Must be familiar with:
Design experience and familiarity with design software a plus

A successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and communications skills. A Bachelors Degree is required, and knowledge of, interest in, or publishing experience, is a plus. This is an entry level position, that will expose the candidate to every aspect of publishing, in a position that has growth potential based on competency and dedication.
General knowledge of books and/or publishing. Microsoft Office. Strong writing and communication skills.
Department Details: The University of Pittsburgh Press is an academic book publisher in regional and scholarly books, as well as poetry and other subjects. Experience or interest in publishing is encouraged.
