Position Overview The Marketing Specialist will serve a critical role in developing interest and engagement among educators in the professional learning experiences offered by the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), toward advancing the School's mission to prepare leaders in education and to generate knowledge to improve student opportunity, achievement, and success. The Marketing Specialist will collaboratively develop and deploy a strategic, comprehensive, multi-channel marketing plan that promotes the new Certificate for School Management and Leadership (CSML) – a joint program offered by HGSE, the Harvard Business School, and HBS Online. Moreover, the Marketing Specialist will help to build the HGSE Professional Education brand and contribute to the strategic growth and impact of Professional Education (PPE) at HGSE, which serves more than 10,000 professionals in early childhood, K-12, and higher education around the world each year through a diverse portfolio of professional learning offerings.
The Marketing Specialist will work to develop and deploy marketing in multiple channels to broaden awareness of and applications for CSML, increasing the visibility of these offerings across target audiences, and meeting ambitious goals for enrollment. A successful candidate, in addition to possessing a solid marketing and communications background, will have demonstrated ability to operate in a highly-collaborative work environment, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a track record of driving results with clear evidence of efforts-to-outcomes. This position will report directly to PPE's Manager of Marketing and Communications, and work in close collaboration with the Program Director of CSML and the faculty leads, as well as members of the Marketing & Engagement, program management, and leadership teams for CSML and other HGSE programs.
Develop a deep understanding of the goals, value propositions, offerings, and markets served by HGSE Professional Education – with specific focus on the Certificate in School Management and Leadership (CSML) – and including the professional learning needs and interests of the aspirant and practicing school leaders for whom CSML is being developed and offered
With direction and feedback from team and faculty, develop compelling descriptive copy and design for all marketing channels that is focused on both lead generation and lead conversion, and that balances content-driven thought leadership with program-driven promotion
In partnership with Associate Director of Marketing and Engagement and the CSML Program Director, propose budget allocations for marketing activities, track expenses, and recommend adjustments as necessary
Responsible for maintaining updated information across all marketing assets including webpages, videos, emails, print collateral, etc.
Lead other projects such as press releases, articles, demo and promotional videos, and webinars working in close collaboration with faculty, Program Director, and team to create awareness for CSML
Analyze and report on marketing efforts-to-outcomes with the goal of optimizing and improving performance through problem-solving and prioritization, and by adapting plans to achieve/exceed large-scale enrollment goals
Support the enrollment funnel through phone and email outreach to prospective participants, working closely with the Admissions Coordinator
Serve as liaison and key contact for Marketing team for CSML, attending meetings, responding to and triaging inquiries/requests as appropriate, and coordinating key lines of communication across groups
Support business development team by developing marketing assets, instructional guides, and outreach templates, as well as other projects as needed
This is a full-time, one-year term position with the possibility of renewal on an annual basis.

BA/BS or a combination of education and experience required

Desired experience, skills, and attributes of a strong candidate include:
Demonstrated experience developing and conveying marketing messages that capture fundamental principles and the value proposition of CSML and related programs, products, and service offerings
Experience with email marketing, including copy, design, and delivery/deployment
Excellent writing and proofreading skills
Experience with social media platforms and marketing
Strong technical proficiency with email and marketing technology, Salesforce and/or other CRMs, and a disposition toward creating strong systems and structures to maximize productivity and efficiency in marketing and communications efforts
Experience in and/or familiarity with K-12 preferred, as well as an interest in and knowledge of the professional, executive, and/or continuing education landscapes (especially online) for adult learners
