Under the general direction of the Associate Athletic Director, External Relations, the Director of Digital Marketing and Productions will be responsible for the areas of digital media creation, event production and solutions, and broadcasting. This person will also manage a work program that consists of a full time assistant, undergraduate students and interns, as well as a graduate assistant. While working with all Duquesne athletic programs, this role will pay special attention to men’s and women’s basketball, including recruiting, technology, and events.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
1.Develops and creates original content to promote and enhance the Duquesne University Department of Athletics’ brand and image. Pays close attention to trends and current events, as well as new methods of distribution. In conjunction with social media coordinator, develops content calendars and distribution lists.
2.Produces television and Internet broadcasts as well as shows for the Department of Athletics broadcasting on ESPN+, ATT SportsNet, and other networks. Oversees logistics, equipment, networking, and staffing., including talent and freelance staff. Creates scripts for each show and produces necessary elements, including graphics, reads, and feature videos. Provides reports on viewership, interactions, and trends, as well as current and emerging streaming technologies.
3.Oversees live event production and serves as the point of contact for audio/visual needs. Develops and creates show themes, graphics, statistical interfaces, and interactive content for events. Provides solutions on improving game-day atmosphere through video and technology. Provides options and capabilities of department equipment.
4.Serves as technology engineer for the department, providing maintenance, upgrades, and repairs for equipment, including control rooms, audio/visual equipment, and the department’s television production trailer. Also provides reports on equipment lifecycles and upgrades. Stays on top of current technologies and technology trends. Provides logistics and solutions, as well as staff, for television and external events.
5.Serves as a liaison to the Atlantic 10 Conference and Northeast Conference in terms of video and technology., as well as ATT SportsNet and ESPN+.
6.Assists in social media planning and coverage and planning, providing elements, infographics, and images. Also provides analytics and trends, as well as current events.
7.Oversees coverage of events, including postseason play, special events, and press conferences.
8.Manages the Digital Marketing & Productions student-work program, including scheduling and payroll, recruitment, and training.
9.Hires and manages vendors, and serves as a liaison to Daktronics, DVsport, Wing Warp, and other audio/visual partners.
10.Responsible for planning and maintaining the Digital Marketing & Production budget.
11.Manages archives and requests for video highlights/content from various parties.
12.Assists marketing and ticketing departments with events both on and off campus.
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred, with a concentration in digital media or similar program, and 3-5 years of experience in digital media/live productions/television production. Related experience can replace formal education.
Candidate must also have experience working in a television production trailer with NewTek and AJT Systems technologies, as well as general networking experience (assigning IP addresses, configuring network switches, routers, encoders).
Portfolio of work required for consideration; must include at least one piece in which the applicant was the primary producer and director.
Preferred video production qualifications include proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, focusing on Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
Candidates must be willing to work unconventional hours, including week nights and weekends.
