JOBSUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the of ViceChancellor for Research, this position leads the development of communicationsstrategies to extend the UTHSC Office of Research's research enterprise.Broadens awareness of initiatives and priorities for key stakeholder audiences,provides creative direction and/or supports the design and development of allthe Office of Research's print and online marketing materials, and spearheadsthe creation and management of the Office of Research's website, social media,and messaging. Serves as a leader in the planning and execution of specialevents on behalf of the Office of Research.
Provides creative direction and leads the design, development, implementation, and execution of all the Office of Research's print and digital marketing media including newsletters, press releases, blog posts, brochures, flyers, annual reports, and other marketing materials.
Generates story ideas and writes original content for publication to complement the university's research goals and mission for a variety of audiences. Develops and produces local, regional, national news stories, news pitches, and stories for external and internal publications.
Acts as a spokesperson on media interactions that promote and/or impact the Office of Research and/or UTHSC. Also, researches internal and external communication opportunities and defines and executes appropriate marketing strategies to support them.
Collaborates with the UTHSC Office of Communications and Marketing to ensure communications efforts are consistent and aligned with the overall university branding and messaging.
Establishes and maintains the UTHSC Office of Research website. Cultivates, directs, and distributes all electronic communication messaging on behalf of the Office of Research and its affiliated offices, including the Office of Research's websites and social media channels.
Manages, nurtures, and sustains internal relationships with UTHSC's Office of Communications and Marketing, as well as with associated vendors.
Identifies, implements, and monitors metrics to measure effectiveness of communication messaging and engagement initiatives and develops action plans and objectives to continuously improve.
Serves as a leader in the planning and execution of special events on behalf of the Office of Research at workshops, seminars, award ceremonies, conference and lectures. Develops event-based marketing campaigns and measures results to ensure success.
Coordinates collaborative programming with colleges, campuses, universities, and community organizations and companies.
Sets performance direction, motivates, coaches, develops, and ensures accountability for the Marketing Coordinator's work progression. Establishes procedures and standards of operation and maintenance of the Office of Research Communications and Marketing.
Identifies challenges and emerging issues faced by the Office of Research and its affiliates. Works with Vice Chancellor for Research and staff to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions and defines and executes appropriate strategies to support them.
