The Athletics Department is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Marketing. This position is responsible for generating revenue through the development and execution of marketing and promotional plans for assigned sport(s) (currently womenâ??s basketball) and football pregame hospitality tent program. The assistant director will consult with various internal stakeholders: administrators, coaches, ticket office, event management, facilities and game production staff to promote ticket sales, drive attendance and ensure an exciting gameday environment. Additionally, candidate will oversee marketing related gameday operations, special events and video board production. The position may help with or oversee other areas within the marketing department, such as cover other assigned sports, Jr. Cyclone Club (JCC) kidâ??s club program, trade agreements, processing trademark licensing approvals and oversight of student workers including recruitment, hiring and scheduling. The assistant director of marketing will be responsible for adhering to the rules and regulations of the department, University, Big 12 Conference, and NCAA.
The ideal candidate will be self-driven and results oriented with a positive outlook. Candidate should have solid creativity and marketing skills; proficient in use of emerging technologies and social media; ability to multi-task and work with regular interruptions; and ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. Possess strong communication skills, highly organized, a forward planner and committed to customer service. Effective in dealing with internal and external stakeholders. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse clientele. Must be available to work at assigned evening and weekend events. Must be able to work both indoor and outdoor events and perform light physical duties related to the marketing role.
Required: Bachelor's degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 5 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred: Experience independently managing the marketing for a sports team(s) or complex client. Related event management experience.
