Create, manage, and monitor marketing and promotional activities and campaigns for IUP products including journals and books. Plans and executes IU Press's participation in conferences and tradeshows. Works closely with Marketing Managers and journal editorial teams to develop and identify the marketing opportunities for each IUP product. Develops a marketing plan for select products that includes advertising, email and social media campaigns, mailings, conference(s) selection, and appropriate marketing materials. MS independently analyzes marketing and sales potential of individual and/or groups of titles in the IUP Products portfolio; determines most effective way to promote, publicize and sell; evaluates effectiveness of past campaigns or efforts for comparable books to determine how to market/publicize/sell IUP Products to maximize IU Press revenue. Manages and tracks marketing budgets according to plan. Participates in editorial and journal meetings.
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or related field and three years publishing, publicity, or marketing experience.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel. Strong communication, drafting and editing skills. Strong sales analysis skills. Analytical and detail-oriented. Knowledge of social media and analytics software (Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Facebook, etc.). Ability to work under multiple deadlines and be able to establish clear priorities. Some web design knowledge. Working knowledge of social media marketing, including but not limited to Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, Google Communities, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, Pinterest, and others.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
This position requires intense concentration for extended periods within a busy office environment and involves constant use of computers and detailed reading. May require stooping, bending, and/or lifting boxes up to 20 pounds. Some travel required.
