The Office of Communications and Marketing is dedicated to advancing the university's reputation. We craft audience-focused communications based on data, best-practices, and emerging trends. The division employs more than 50 full-time professionals across several cross-functional teams--Creative, Digital, Marketing, News, Special Events, Video, and WUOT 91.9FM.
The project manager position serves on the marketing team. This position works with internal teams and units and centers on campus to keep projects on track from inception through delivery. The position, much like an account manager, will actively participate in the strategic communications process through a broad range of activities that include strategic concepting for multiple print and digital formats, message creation, budgeting, coordinating workflows, and building strong relationships with clients.
Responsibilities: * Create and manage multiple, simultaneous project plans and schedules that may include internal and external resources. * Schedules and facilitates discovery meetings with internal and external teams to access communication needs and goals. * Work as part of team to develop and implement strategic solutions to communication problems. * Work as part of divisional project team on strategic communication plans that align with larger office and university goals. * Organizes, manages, prioritizes, and is accountable for workflows of projects and/or campaigns from ideation through delivery, coordinating and communicating with internal and external team members and management. * Using a project management system, records and tracks detailed timing plans throughout the life of individual projects and longer-term communications campaigns. * Manage and enforce a rigorous approvals process (from development through production phases). * Work with clients and team members to create and manage estimates and budgets for projects. * Evaluate resources and adjust as necessary to keep projects moving forward. * Tracks results of initiatives and campaigns and reports on outcomes to help shape future efforts. * Provide insight to management on process improvements. * Reviews content, edits documents, and check proofs as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Foundational knowledge of marketing essentials and communications strategies * Solid understanding of one or more production disciplines: print, digital, and broadcast (multi-media) * Extremely detail oriented and organized * Excellent writing and communication skills * Exceptional time management skills * Competency with industry standard software packages used in production or demonstrated ability to learn them quickly * Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously * Strong dedication to meeting deadlines * Ability to lead individuals who are not direct reports * Interacts appropriately with clients and office staff * Works well independently and as part of a group * Receptive to feedback and constructive criticism * Self-motivated and assertive * Builds and maintains good client relationships * Acts professionally and represents the office in interactions with clients
