Reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and managing Carolina Performing Arts (CPA) marketing content in support of all promotional and communications efforts. Duties include strategizing, creating, scheduling, and tracking posted content across social media platforms; design and delivery of CPA promotional and informational html emails; oversight and general maintenance of the carolinaperformingarts.org website; carolinaperformingarts.org dynamic content updates; project management of all CPA program books; proofing and editing CPA promotional and informational print materials; and researching and pursuing other online engagement opportunities that arise in this ever-changing field.
This position will play an important role in helping build an organization that is collaborative and relationship-focused, and is essential for the success of all work that CPA does. All efforts will be managed through interdepartmental collaboration and positive working relationships, which support the entire organization and are undertaken with an eye toward attracting audiences to CPA events, ensuring that ticket sales and attendance goals are met or exceeded, and increasing CPA's regional and national visibility. At CPA, it is vital to understand the mission and values of the organization (curiosity, ambition, humility) and demonstrate them through one's work. This includes but is not limited to: approaching all efforts as an opportunity to do better, more creative, and more collaborative work, and embracing continuous growth and learning. This position is part of a three-person marketing and communications department, and is also responsible for contributing to and implementing the overall CPA marketing plan and strategic initiatives, as well as offering partnership and support to colleagues across the organization, demonstrating genuine care for one another and our collective success.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
The successful candidate will have: strong writing, editing, analytical, organizational, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills. Clear understanding of and experience applying marketing strategy management and communications concepts, tools, and approaches for both internal and external audiences. Demonstrated ability to create persuasive and clear communications in all forms, traditional and electronic, and with varied audiences. Demonstrated skills in managing small and large projects with multiple internal and external partners. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with a variety of individuals including university leadership, faculty, staff, students, leaders, and external stakeholders, as well as maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, professional staff, and artists, which will often involve anticipating the needs and interests of others. Ability to prioritize, focus, and achieve results in a fast-paced and complex university environment.
Preference will be given to a candidate with: - 1 to 3 years of combined marketing, digital media, and communications experience - Experience working with Tessitura or similar ticketing systems - Facility with design and/or facility utilizing design applications such as Photoshop or InDesign - Experience in the arts—particularly in a changing regional, national, and international higher education environment—or in philanthropy, non-profit organizations, government, or public service - Knowledge and understanding of the Triangle-area market and arts & culture landscape
