Associate or Full Professor - Michael D. Johnson Family Professorship of Services Marketing, SC Johnson College of Business School of Hotel Administration
The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business invites applicants for the Michael D. Johnson Family Professorship of Services Marketing. The successful candidate is expected to take up the position in the College's School of Hotel Administration as part of the college's Marketing & Management Communication area. Rank is Associate or Full Professor and the expected start date is July 1, 2020. The position will be based in Ithaca, NY.
Responsibilities of the position include developing and teaching graduate and undergraduate courses designed to support services marketing. This individual would be expected to teach primarily in the programs of the School of Hotel Administration (SHA). Top-level multi-disciplinary research is valued, as is dissemination of cutting-edge ideas and practices to hospitality executives. The candidate is expected to develop a thought-leadership reputation for the hospitality industry, broadly defined.
The ideal candidate will currently hold the rank of Associate or Full Professor and have an established reputation in services marketing, and conducts research, as well as teaches, at a quality level consistent with the school's pre-eminent global status. The candidate should have a strong publication record in premier marketing journals, as well as field and service-focused journals, and be able to meet the school's current tenure standards of research excellence. The candidate should be able to effectively work with faculty, students, and hospitality industry leaders, and be willing to develop an expert knowledge of services marketing for the hospitality industry. In addition, this position requires the candidate to have a strong record of teaching excellence at the undergraduate, masters, and executive levels. A Ph.D. degree in the fields of marketing or another appropriate field from a recognized program is required.
The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (established on July 1, 2016) combines three schools: the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson), the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (Dyson), and the School of Hotel Administration (Hotel School). The School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University is the top-ranked hospitality management program worldwide, with undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. programs.The School of Hotel Administration (SHA) has approximately 800 undergraduates and 60 graduate students.Founded in 1922, SHA is an AACSB accredited business school, with a resident faculty of 65 and over 10,000 alumni worldwide.Important resources available to faculty include extraordinary access to industry leaders, excellent research funding, the Center for Hospitality Research (CHR), which houses industry databases, and the cultural and intellectual resources of the Cornell University community.
The holder of the Johnson Chair of Services Marketing would be part of a unified marketing group of 19 tenure track faculty members serving undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students.
