The Director of Marketing and Public Engagement is responsible for Five Rivers MetroParks' marketing activities and oversees the development and delivery of marketing strategy. This position also leads Five Rivers MetroParks' public communications efforts and oversees the visitor services unit. This position is a member of the leadership team and reports directly to the Chief of Administration.

Develops and implements the agency's comprehensive marketing plan. Manages, protects, evolves, and promotes MetroParks' brand and image.
Collaborate with Directors, product groups, and managers throughout the agency. Develops and implements marketing strategies to build product development; as well as increase cost recovery and develop and implement product marketing plans.
Empowers and prepares team for achieving the mission and strategic initiatives of MetroParks. Develop leaders by providing mentoring, guidance, direction, and support. Ensures that department staffs are accountable to their individual responsibilities and fosters a sense of empowerment for decision-making at all levels. Encourage a sense of urgency, fun, and satisfaction toward meeting the goals and objectives of the individual, department and the MetroParks.
Conducts market research and develops evaluations and reports for the agency to summarize the results. Advises agency departments with regard to the research results and adjusts marketing strategy and tactics accordingly. Collaborate with other departments to gather public input utilizing feedback instruments, surveys, input meetings, focus groups, and other tools.
Direct the development design, and production of marketing collateral and visual communications including brochures, flyers, signage, exhibits and publications. Ensure the effectiveness of MetroParks' web site and social media outlets. Stays current and takes advantage of new technologies and evolving media.
Ensure appropriate and effective dissemination of public information. Support the Executive Director and Commissioners in their communications with the public. in the implementation of the Crisis Communication Plan, including strategizing responses, preparing remarks, and coordinating media contact.
Establishes and maintains effective public relationships with media representatives. Promote MetroParks as a source of editorial content. Plans and oversees advertising and promotion efforts; buys media. Builds and maintains effective relationships with various partnerships within the community and profession.
Develops and oversees the marketing department budget. Monitors expenditures, prepares and evaluates reports, and maintains record keeping in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
Make marketing department related presentations to Board of Park Commissioners.
Builds and maintains effective relationships with various partnerships within the community and profession.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive records and information.
Collaborate internally, within and across departmental boundaries, to provide information and service to others in the organization to contribute to the effective operation of the agency and all staff.
Make presentations to the public, civic groups, and other organizations to provide information about MetroParks, its facilities and its services.
Maintain responsibility for the overall leadership and direction of the department. Manage in accordance with delegated authority, and MetroParks' policies, applicable laws and regulations. Maintain responsibility for the timely and effectively accomplishing the delegated mission of the department, and for accomplishing the strategic goals in accordance with MetroParks' strategic plan and initiatives.

A combination of appropriate education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, or closely related field.
Seven years of progressively responsible marketing and managerial experience including senior level marketing management experience.
Three years of supervisory experience.
