Works cross-departmentally within the Division of Student Affairs to coordinate and fulfill marketing and communication needs for various programs, services, and events. This includes, but is not limited to, graphic design, print publications, video production, website creation/maintenance, and social media. Responsible for ensuring all departments meet the marketing and branding guidelines and policies set forth by the University. Manages a staff of two Graduate Assistants and at least four student workers.; Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate.
Responsibilities: 30% Manages all marketing print projects from conception to delivery for the Division of Student Affairs and its subset departments. Works cross-departmentally to fulfill any requests as well as predict any future needs of the division. These requests may include, but are not limited to, brochures, booklets, postcards, view books, posters, conference guides, banners, and displays. This includes management and oversight of The Source, an auxiliary print shop service housed within the Department of Student Affairs Marketing and Communications. Oversees a student-driven graphic design and photography team and works in conjunction with the University Marketing and Communication department to ensure all marketing and branding guidelines are being met. Manages all print purchasing request, using the University purchasing system, when the use of outside print vendors is required.
10% Ensures that all student staff, as well as Student Affairs departments, adhere to Tarleton State University marketing and branding guidelines as set forth by the Division of Advancement & External Relations. Coordinates training on such guidelines and policies to key stakeholders within the division who are responsible for creating marketing and promotional materials.
20% Oversees all digital media efforts for the Division of Student Affairs. This includes websites, social media channels, and digital signage. Oversees the web presence for the entire division, working with the Department of Web Services when necessary, which includes web page creation, maintenance, an analytical assessment. Ensures that all departments adhere to Tarleton's web policies and enforce federal, state, and University accessibility standards. Regularly updates and maintains the University online Student Rules and Code of Student Conduct. Oversees the official Division of Student Affairs social media channels including, but not limited to, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. Supports divisional departments with their social media efforts. Creates and provides social media best practices and develops and maintains a social media policy for the Division of Student Affairs and its subset departments. Provides support for Division of Student Affairs departments who own and/or operate digital signage within their facilities. Oversees a student-driven team that includes a social media intern and a digital media graduate assistant.
20% Manages all video production services for the Division of Student Affairs and its subset departments. Responsible for conceptualizing, scripting, casting, shooting, and editing videos with the assistance of a student-driven video production team. Remains current with trends and ensures that videos meet standards for the medium in which they will be disseminated (including, but not limited to, website, social media, and presentations).
10% Recruits, trains, supervises, evaluates, and retains staff and student personnel to assist with divisional marketing. Advises student staff in best practices for all realms of marketing as well as counsels students on client relations and interpersonal skills. Oversees internship and Applied Learning Experience opportunities and ensures that student staff receive real-world experience that can be applied both in the classroom and in their future careers. Sets and maintains an annual budget for student wages.
5% Supports the Director of Student Affairs Marketing and Communication by assisting with Division of Student Affairs communication efforts. This includes, but is not limited to, creation of emails, press releases, print advertising, photo shoots.
5% Performs other duties as assigned, including participation on Division and University committees.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications or related field.Two years of professional work experience in communications and marketing.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects through various channels at the same time in a fast-paced environment; Demonstrated ability to execute marketing plans and campaigns. Ability to present information clearly and concisely. Graphic design experience.
Preferred Requirements: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or Creative Cloud programs such as Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, and Illustrator; Experience supervising and/or advising students.
