The Ohio State University John Glenn College of Public Affairs seeks a full-time, regular A&P staff member to serve as the Digital Marketing Manager. The Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for digital content creation and channel management (email, social media, web) that leverages a deep understanding of college audiences to generate awareness, inspire choice and foster affinity for John Glenn College while aligning with The Ohio State University brand. The role is responsible for management of digital marketing technology and tools, audience engagement and community management, and marketing performance measurement.
In alignment with the college strategic marketing and communications plan, the Digital Marketing Manager will develop digital marketing strategies and plans and manage implementation and measurement of digital marketing programs. The manager will provide sound recommendations on how digital channels can be used to support strategic objectives, leveraging an audience-centric mindset, data, user experience best practices, and a multi-channel approach. Duties include creation, design and delivery of compelling and relevant digital marketing content; ongoing management and maintenance of the college's digital channels (email, social media and web); and tracking of channel and tactic performance.
The digital marketing manager will collaborate with the marketing and communications team and college partners to support digital marketing channels within the college, advise on best practices, identify opportunities for enhancements, and oversee governance and risk management.
Project management skills and the ability to work on simultaneous priorities is a critical component of this role.
The breakdown of duties will be as follows: 50%:
Development of digital marketing strategies and plans that provide sound recommendations on how digital channels can be integrated and used to support strategic objectives, leveraging an audience-centric mindset, data, best practices, and a multi-channel approach
Activation and management of digital components of integrated campaigns that support of college priorities
Creation, design and delivery of strategic compelling and relevant digital marketing content in email, social media and on the web 35%:
Leads management of college website – including maintenance, creation of pages, removing irrelevant content and ensuring content/design is resonant with audiences
Ongoing management and maintenance of the college's digital channels (e.g., email, CRM/database, social media)
Identifies opportunities to increase and maintain community engagement on social channels
Tracks impact and performance of digital marketing through analytics and reporting, leveraging data to inform decision making and optimize future initiatives
Design, write and send emails on behalf of college such as newsletters, events and messages from dean.
Provide photography support as needed for college events and activities. 10%:
Collaborates with the marketing and communications team and college partners to support digital marketing channels within the college, advise on best practices, identify opportunities for enhancements, and oversee governance and risk management through active monitoring of all instances 5%:
Maintains relationships with University Marketing and University Communications colleagues, as well as professional colleagues across Ohio State
Maintains industry knowledge by actively seeking information on trends and best practices and actively participates in professional development opportunities
Collaborates with university marketing and communications initiatives and communities
Perform other related duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in English, Communication, Journalism, or a related field of study or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. The individual in this role must have at least three years of digital marketing experience that includes responsibility for email, social media, and web channels. The individual in this position needs experience using HTML and website content management systems (CMS) as well as experience using email marketing platforms and social media publishing suites. Candidates should have experience using digital marketing channel data and analytics to inform and refine strategies and plans as well as excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to excellence in work is required along with a professional demeanor and ability to build collaborative working relationships. The individual in this position needs solid writing and proofreading skills and must be proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud, inclusive of InDesign, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver.
It is desired that candidates can think creatively and strategically while being detail-oriented and following a project from ideation through implementation. It is preferred that candidates have a strong understanding of end-user experience and expertise in digital content, usability architecture, development, design, SEO, and analytics as well as the ability to balance and prioritize multiple work streams and deliverables to ensure deadlines are met. Successful candidates should have the ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced work environment and experience working on a small, collaborative team with limited resources to achieve team goals. Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or other enrollment marketing software will be highly valued, as will experience in still photography and videography. Experience with Desktop Publishing and experience in working in higher education are preferred.
Target Salary: $48,000.00 - $54,000.00 Annually
