Under the general direction of the Chief Marketing Officer and reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Marketing and Research Manager (MRM) is responsible for providing marketing services to UCI DCE partners and for the collection and analysis of data in support of new program development. These programs include continuing education certificates, courses and events, graduate degree programs, and special projects/initiatives. The MRM serves as the primary research liaison with DCE planning unit leaders, campus departments/schools, the Dean's office, as well as other strategic partners. The MRM manages the market research function within DCE's marketing department, responsible for scoping market research requests, identifying the best way to gather data, implementing strategies to collect data, and making data-driven recommendations that drive enrollments. Through quantitative, qualitative, and interpretive research techniques, the MRM compiles actionable data to help determine market demand, consumer sentiment, environmental trends, program viability, audience definition, as well as the most effective marketing strategies that best engage the target audience. The MRM will act as the main marketing liaison between UCI DCE and partners that require marketing assistance, including departments and programs at UCI and any partners, including universities outside of UCI. The MRM will draft marketing plans, execute on key initiatives, manage any vendors used, provide analytics to support marketing efforts, and manage individual marketing budgets. In addition to these duties, the MRM develops content in support of specific programs and initiatives. This may include, but is not limited to, website copy, digital assets, print collateral, and other supporting materials. Working with internal marketing team as well as external vendors, the MRM will be responsible for executing recruitment tactics, tracking the metrics, and identifying efficiency and improvement opportunities.
Prior experience (1-3 years) in a marketing environment either in an agency or in-house.
Self-motivated with ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Experience with digital marketing platforms and tools such as social media, survey tools, and marketing automatic systems.
Strong understanding of online marketing concepts, strategy, and best practices.
Demonstrated ability to understand data/stats and translate them into actionable recommendations.
Ability to manage own time, as well as projects. Independently prioritize and organize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Knowledge and experience using primary and secondary market research tools, including the ability to analyze complex information.
Experience working with outside marketing vendors and consultants, including printers, designers, and ad agencies.
Strong written/verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
B.A. in Marketing, communications or related field.
Knowledge of the higher education (preferably continuing education) market.
Experience in marketing educational programs in a self-supporting environment.
Experience working as part of a team.
Continuing studies in digital marketing or related topics.
Marketing automation system (Marketo).
