The Office of Communications in the School of Business is seeking a full-time Graduate Marketing Specialist (Publicity/Marketing Administrator). The incumbent will report to the School's Director of Marketing and Communications and will be responsible for publicity, marketing and communications activities surrounding the promotion of all School of Business graduate programs to prospective students and applicants. The position will split time each week, as needed, between Storrs and the Graduate Business Learning Center, Hartford. The role will require travel to other School of Business campuses as well as other in-state and out-of-state travel. Evening and weekend hours may also be required as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to:
Planning, developing and implementing timely: a) cost-effective marketing and promotion strategies for each of the school's graduate programs with the goal of attracting high-quality applicants in support of enrollment objectives; b) effective, clear and well-written communication plans designed to ensure an excellent inquiry and applicant experience from initial point of contact through admission.
Collaborating with representatives from each program, the School's admissions specialist, communications team, external marketing vendors and others to develop compelling content to effectively communicate program benefits to prospective students and achieve the School's enrollment objectives.
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all School of Business graduate programs.
Developing and maintaining website content for all BUSN graduate programs (including leadership and hands-on role in the development of related pages/content for 2020-21 comprehensive site re-design.)
Serving as primary point-person to lead the development and execution of the annual media plan to meet objectives for brand awareness of the School of Business and recruiting goals of the graduate programs.
Regularly consulting with the graduate programs on the planning and execution of strategies that enhance conversion rates (i.e. communication plans); creating and implementing approved plans.
Regularly analyzing, determining and implementing initiatives to reach target audiences. Keeping up-to-date on marketing tools and trends in order to understand target audiences, differentiate messaging and continuously improve means of reaching target audiences.
Utilizing copywriting and campaign messaging skills to create and implement innovative marketing materials and messaging aimed at promoting each master's program to target audiences.
Providing suggestions, identifying opportunities and implementing methods to better utilize online marketing tools including social media, the school's website and other available tools.
Contributing interesting, appropriate, professional and engaging social media content aimed at promoting the School's graduate programs to prospective students.
Evaluating rankings survey results and recommending means for promoting programs based on rankings.
Overseeing the collection and reporting of data and key metrics for recruitment and enrollment initiatives. Using research and data analysis to improve messaging and segmentation of key audiences increase effectiveness of marketing and communications throughout the application cycle.
Assisting BUSN Communications Team on projects for other (non-Graduate Program) internal clients as needed.
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field.
Four to five years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of marketing practices including independent or in-house marketing agency and client-management experience.
Proven advertising campaign development and execution experience across digital and traditional media channels.
Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills and proven experience managing assigned functions responsibly, efficiently, effectively and independently.
Proven excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Proven strong campaign management, copywriting and editing skills.
Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, administrators as well as external agencies/vendors and the public.
Demonstrated proficiency with social media platforms.
Proven experience with website development and page content creation, including proficiency with web software such as Aurora WordPress, BeaverBuilder or similar.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as required; and in-state and out-of-state travel with own transportation as required.
Master's degree in business or related field.
Demonstrated experience working in a higher education environment in a University setting.
Demonstrated experience working for a master's program or graduate school.
This is a full-time position based in Storrs, CT and Hartford, CT.
