About Us

Nestled in the historic tree-lined neighborhood of Myers Park just minutes from Uptown Charlotte, Queens University of Charlotte has been changing the lives of its students for more than 160 years.

Over the past decade we’ve more than doubled our undergraduate enrollment, expanded our academic programs, and raised well over $156M for scholarships and facilities. Notably, the major gifts propelling Queens’ fundraising success were generated not only from alumni, but from leaders of Charlotte’s business and philanthropic communities, a reflection of the strong support for Queens’ role in the city’s civic and educational landscape.

Our dynamic academic offerings span the liberal arts and sciences as well as the professional fields of business, communication, nursing, health and education. All degree programs are anchored in a liberal arts core to help students hone their critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills. Queens is consistently ranked in the top tier of Southern Regional Masters Universities and in the top ten nationally for the percentage of students who study abroad.

With warmth and southern charm, the sophisticated city of Charlotte has managed to hang on to the small-community feel that earned it the distinction as the most livable city from the US Conference of Mayors. CNNMoney.com ranked Charlotte eighth among its “Best Place to Live and Launch,” and Self magazine named it one of the “Five Cities with Big Outdoor Appeal,” citing Charlotte’s public art walking tour, green space and recreation areas.

For decades Charlotte has thrived as a financial hub (second only to New York City), but in recent years energy, healthcare, research and technology have rounded out our economy to make Charlotte a bustling center of commerce. In fact, Charlotte is the number two city in the country for job-seeking college graduates according to Forbes magazine. And a growing number of attractions, including a robust professional sports scene and myriad arts and cultural venues, have turned Charlotte into a bona-fide destination.

Charlotte’s outstanding quality of life—temperate weather, a thriving economy, ample entertainment, and an active lifestyle—make our city a magnet for newcomers.

Queens strives to be recognized as a leading comprehensive university, distinguished by its commitment to transforming the lives of its students and enhancing the intellectual and cultural fabric of its community. Inspired by our motto "Not to be served, but to serve”, we value and are committed to those who learn and work at Queens. This is expressed by our responsibility to manage our heritage, our resources and our reputation in the community to ensure that we remain a source of pride for our students, faculty, staff, donors and alumni.
